I love summer knitting and crocheting, and have been so inspired lately by the textures and drape of plant fibers as well as the coastal North Carolina weather. Whether cotton, linen, or hemp, plant fibers offer unique design possibilities.
Plant fibers have no memory, which means no bounce. Once stretched they cannot bounce back. Though this would be a major problem in socks, it can be amazing when working lacy, open stitches, and creating shawls and garments with drape.
July's upcoming design will be using Berroco's Pima 100, and August's will be using Hempathy, a wonderful blend of cotton and hemp. Stay tuned for updates!
