This introduction to fairisle knitting is a 2 session class. Maximum enrollment is 4 students. Class meets on Monday 05/01/17 and 05/08/17 from 1PM to 3 PM.
In the first session we will cover yarn carrying techniques, to increase efficiency and even tension, practicing verious methods. We will talk about floats and how ro prevent them from being too tight. We will learn to work with a chart, and we will cast on for our class project, a darling coffee cup sleeve. In the second session we will finish the sleeve, we will discuss the best methods for finishing your firisle projects and cast on for a second sleeve of your choice.
We will be using a free pattern, which will be provided at the beginning of the first session. You will be able to complete multiple sleeves with the recommended materials.
You will need:
- either 2 24" US 3 circular needles , or a 40" US 3 circular needle, or s set of US 3 double pointed needles
-one skein solid fingering yarn. We used Blackberry Ridge fingering, a great woolen yarn (Available at the Noble Thread with over 40 colorways to chose from!)
- one skein self striping in a fingering weight. We used Lang Mille Colori (Available at The Noble Thread)
