This introduction to rigid heddle weaving is a 2 session class. Maximum enrollment is 4 students. No experience required.
Class meets on 05/17/17 and 05/24/17 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In this class you will learn the ins an outs of your loom, how to warp it using the single post warping method. We will discus yarn choices for warp and weft, heddle choice, tension, and beating to get the fabric you want. While practicing simple weave, we will work on keeping our edges neat, and will learn hem stitching. We will discuss finishing your weaving after you take it off the loom. At the end of the class you will have a beautiful scarf.
You will need:
-a rigid heddle loom. We recommend a 24" loom as this will give a good surface to weave a wide range of projects. You will need shuttle sticks and warping sticks. ( We carry Ashford looms and accessories in the shop. Please call us 10 days before the first class if you wish to otder from us.) (LOOM RENTAL AVAILABLE $15, with a $50 refundable deposit.)
