Class is composed of 3 sessions each 2 hours long. Maximum enrollment: 4 students. Previous spindle or wheel spinning recommended.
Class meets from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM on 05/04/17, 03/15/17, 05/11/17 and 05/18/17.
"Learn to Spin on a Wheel" is a class for beginning wheel spinners or for those who need to refresh their skills.
In this class you will learn about the anatomy of your wheel, and how to take care of it. You will learn to make your hands and your feet work together, how to draft using the worsted drafting method, how to manage the amount of twist, the importance of twist direction and the thickness of your singles. You will learn how to adjust your wheel to get the yarn you want. You will learn yo ply on a wheel. Finally you will learn to finish your yarn.
You will need:
- A spinning wheel in good working order. There will not be time in this class to do repairs or serious spinning wheel maintenance. At least 3 empty bobbins. Optional: lazy kate, niddy noddy.
-4 to 6 oz. of BFL, Romney, Corriedale, CVM or similar fibers in top, roving or batts.
( We carry Louet and Ahford wheels in the store. Class participants receive a 10% discount on all fibers.When purchasing a wheel from us, class participants receive 1/2 pound sampler of fibers including dyed and undyed fibers.)
